Together, Shaz and Julie have over 25 yrs experience working in education.
Using an anti-racism and gender-affirming lens, we support organisations to better engage with First Nations and gender diverse people and content.
Goorlil Consulting programs can be tailored to meet RAP outcomes and other strategic goals.
Goorlil's ways of working are grounded in foundational principles that influence the way we interact with clients and other stakeholders, and ultimately shapes our project delivery. These principles are:
Continuous Improvement: Know Better; Do Better.
We commit to a culture of continuous learning and improvement, challenging ourselves, Australian education sectors, organisations, and the wider community to deepen our understanding and make lasting, meaningful change. This principle guides us to not only seek knowledge but to apply it towards better practices, policies, and outcomes.
Self-Determination: Upholding First Nations Peoples' Rights.
Central to our ethos is the unwavering support of self-determination for First Peoples. We recognise and uphold the inherent right of First Nations people to shape their own futures, ensuring that our work not only respects but actively supports Indigenous voices, choices, and leadership within all levels of decision-making and development.
Intersectionality: A Comprehensive Approach to Inclusivity.
In all aspects of our work, we embed the principle of intersectionality, acknowledging the complexity of identities and the interconnected nature of social categorisations such as race, class, and gender. This approach ensures that our strategies are inclusive, equitable, and sensitive to the diverse experiences and challenges faced by marginalised individuals and communities.
Integrity: Speaking Truth to Power.
Integrity and honesty form the backbone of our communication and actions. We are committed to speaking truth to power, advocating for justice and equity with courage and transparency. This principle compels us to challenge inequities and injustices, using our voices to influence positive change and hold those in power accountable.
Reciprocity: Building Foundational Relationships.
Recognising that meaningful progress is built on the foundation of strong relationships, we prioritise developing reciprocal partnerships. Our approach is rooted in mutual respect, shared learning, and cooperative engagement, ensuring that our relationships with communities, organisations, and stakeholders are equitable, beneficial, and supportive of collective goals.
